D'ailleurs, phénomène étrange : lors d'un premier login je n'ai pas de toolbar, mais si je rabats l'écran de mon portable (ou que je fais Super-L), celle ci apparaît mais avec un visuel à la 16.04 (toutes les infos dans le coin supérieur droit, et barre grise et opaque) alors que d'après ce que j'ai pu trouver, normalement sous 18.04 l'heure est centrée et la barre est semi transparente)

Alors j'ai juste un petit souci... Je me suis rendu compte que dans mon lanceur, en cliquant sur la roue crantée, j'ai plusieurs options:
_ GNOME
_ GNOME sur Xorg
_ Ubuntu (sélectionné par défaut)
_ Ubuntu sur Wayland
_ Unity

En sélectionnant Unity dans cette liste, j'ai une session normale, sous unity:

~$ echo "${XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP}"
Unity:Unity7:ubuntu

Mon seul "souci" c'est qu'en termes d'apparence, d'après ce que je vois sur Internet, l'interface Ubuntu sous 18.04 ressemble à ça:

Tandis que chez moi, ça ressemble plutôt à ça (avec chez moi un castor en fond d'écran comme seule différence avec cette image)

Avant cela, petite question... devrais-je continuer sur ma session "Ubuntu" (qui était sélectionnée par défaut et sur laquelle j'ai effectué toutes les commandes précédemment), ou bien prendre ma session "Unity" qui m'a l'air tout à fait fonctionnelle, si ce n'est pour l'apparence qui est celle de la 16.04...?

Je les ai toutes essayées, GNOME et Ubuntu sur Wayland ne donnent rien, j'ai juste un écran noir avec possibilité de taper des commandes, mais sans être dans une console tty... (j'ai juste fait un Ctrl-C pour revenir au lanceur), et GNOME sur Xorg me donne une session avec comme fond d'écran celui du lanceur (une sorte de violet foncé un peu pixelisé), une top bar vide sur le bureau, mais qui me donne le nom de l'application en cours d'utilisation sinon. Cette barre est d'ailleurs blanche, comme la plupart des fenêtres que j'ai ouvertes (Mozilla, Explorateur de fichiers, terminal... Alors que dans mes paramètres j'ai configuré plutôt les thèmes sombres). Et le Dock était semblable à celui que j'ai, à la différence près que certaines icônes étaient différentes (l'explorateur de fichiers était bleu, et les disques externes avaient une forme différente).

C'est probablement utilisable, moyennant de reconfigurer certaines choses, mais je vais rester sur ma session Unity qui m'a l'air d'être la plus fonctionnelle

Du coup, pour répondre à ta question, dpkg -C ne produit aucun retour chez moi

Au #6, je me disais qu'il y avait sans doute plusieurs bureaux différents installés sur cette machine. Ça a été confirmé au #34.

J'aimerais juste signaler que plusieurs utilisateurs chevronnés déconseillent cette pratique:

En effet... Par contre je n'ai jamais (intentionnellement en tout cas) installé plusieurs bureaux... donc je ne comprends pas trop

Mais je pense que je vais juste réinstaller la 18.04 fraîchement, comme suggéré par nany aux #41 et #43, mes problèmes devraient se résoudre ainsi

Il est certes parfois aventureux d’installer plusieurs DE. Or, comme le dit Genarog, ce n’est pas de son propre chef mais du fait de la mise à niveau.
À noter que, dans le cas où la mise à niveau se passe bien, les deux environnements cohabitent bien car Unity est basé sur Gnome-shell.
J’ai moi-même expérimenté le passage de 16.04 à 18.04 sur deux machines sans souci. J’ai par la suite procédé à des fresh-install pour ne plus avoir que Gnome.
Dans le cas de Genarog, la mise à niveau semble s’être mal déroulée. Mais il apparaît long et fastidieux d’investiguer sur ce qui cloche. C’est pourquoi j’ai proposé la réinstallation plutôt que de continuer dans des recherches qui dureraient un temps indéfini (voire infini).

c'est la session ubuntu qui est basee sur gnome-shell

Tel que me l'avait proposé nany, j'ai donc réinstallé Ubuntu 18.04 depuis une live USB. L'install s'est bien passée, il me faut juste un peu de temps pour tout bien réinstaller et être de nouveau fonctionnel comme avant, mais sinon tout va bien

Merci tout le monde pour votre aide, même si les investigations n'ont au final servi à rien, j'ai tout de même appris des choses. Je vais donc maintenant passer cette discussion en Résolu
