Ordinateur qui rame. Comment optimiser ?

Bonjour à tous,

je travaille sur mon ordinateur qui est sous Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS
Quand j'ai mes applications ouvertes, j'ai souvent l'ordinateur qui rame tellement qu'il en bloque, et il me faut 15 min pour faire un tout petit truc.
J'ai lancé le monitoring sur la CPU et la mémoire, et j'aurais quelques questions à propos de ça :

Les applications lancées quand je bosse sont : Eclipse (que je lance avec 4Go de RAM), Tomcat (lancé avec 2Go de RAM), un serveur SOLR, Firefox ou Chrome (Firefox consomme plus de mémoire, donc j'ai essayé avec Chrome ces derniers temps) et j'ai souvent Sublime Text qui est lancé ainsi qu'un fichier PDF. De plus, les applications que je lance utilisent LogFactor5 (Java-lang-Thread qu'on voit dans l'impression écran).

J'ai augmenté la mémoire de Tomcat et Eclipse récemment vu que ça bloquait (parce que je n'utilisais que 8Go sur 12), et là j'utilise bien ma RAM

Par contre, ce que je ne comprends pas, et c'est à ces moments-là que ça rame, c'est que j'ai des CPU qui sont à 100% alors que d'autres sont à 2%. Est-ce que quelqu'un peut m'expliquer pourquoi ? Est-ce qu'il y a un moyen d'avoir une meilleure répartition de la charge sur les CPU pour éviter que mon ordi ne bloque ?

Voici les infos du hardware :
- ASUS  N76VZ
- CPU : Intel Core i7-3830QM 2.4GHz, 4 coeurs, 8 threads
- GeForce GT 650M

A noter que ça bloque même si j'utilise pas firefox. Et beaucoup des addons sont désactivés.

A noter également que pour l'instant, l'ordi ne bloque pas, donc ces valeurs ne reflètent pas complètement l'état où il bloque

petit ajout que j'ai oublié : j'ai aussi un dual boot avec Windows 8 (mais je n'utilise plus Windows).
