freeze en 18.04 - RESOLU

Bonsoir
Depuis que je suis en version 18.04 , il se produit de temps en temps un "freeze" de la machine : l'écran se fige  , la souris peut se déplacer , mais les clics ne sont pas pris en compte . Je suis obligé de rebooter  .
C'est surprenant que ce soit arrivé après l'installation de la 18.04 . Si c'était arrivé avant j'aurais suspecté le hardware , mais je tourne avec cette machine depuis plusieurs années ( UBUNTU 12 , 14 , 16 )  sans incident .
Quelqu'un a-t-il observé ce phénomène ?

Rebonsoir
J'ai l'impression que mon problème ressemble à celui décrit par  diesel 83140  . Il me semble que cela se produit avec Firefox ( ?? ).  Une précision :   après avoir rebooté , je retrouve le dernier écran et je peux continuer à travailler avec .

Je ne comprends pas . Mon problème est un freeze occasionnel vraisemblablement du à Firefox . Que vient faire ici   VLC qui fonctionne parfaitement bien  ?

Les snaps sont plus lourds que les paquets en deb.

Tu as combien de RAM sur cet ordi ?

Ma machine est un monstre . CPU  I7 overclocké , 4 CPU  (8  coeurs)  : 16 GO de RAM , une vingtaine de téras en plusieurs disques évidement  ( 4 on line ) .  4 OS :  W7,  W10 , UBUNTU 14 , UBUNTU 18 . Je fais du montage vidéo , alors il faut de la place .. et OpennShot n'est pas aussi complet que VEGAS ou PREMIERE , c'est pourquoi je garde encore Windows . Comme mes OS sont sur des disques différents , j'ai toujours une solution de repli en cas de pépin

Oui mais que vient faire VLC dans cette galère  ?

Bonjour

OK ! j'attend le pprochain freeze et je lance la commande après le redémarrage . Mais je suis dubitatif car aussi bien en version 16.04 qu'avec Windows  7 ou 10 , je n'ai jamais observé ces "freeze" même en overclock poussé .Les températures de CPU ne dépassent pas 85°C avec une compilation de sortie de vidéo de plus d'une heure .( J'ai un refroidissement par eau et plusieurs ventilos . )
Peux-tu me dire ce que tu attends de la commande ?  En tout cas voilà ce que ça donne avant "freeze"

Oui tu peux appliquer le #8, ça allègera ton système.

Pour en revenir au fond du problème, ma commande est inefficace à remonter avant le démarrage, parce que le système est une 18.04 (j'aurais pu sad m'en aviser plus tôt : c'est dans ton titre...).
Avec deux possibilités :
- soit tu as activé le journal, et nous y trouverons l'info sur le gel ;
- soit tu n'as pas activé le journal, et l'info est perdue ; en ce cas nous activerons le journal pour avoir l'info au prochain gel.

  Pour savoir si le journal est activé, et, si oui, ce qu'il pèse :

cd /var/log; ls -l journal ; echo; du -sh journal
