Installation d'Ubuntu sur un disque externe [resolu]
Bonjour
J'essaie en vain d'installer Ubuntu sur un disque externe sur un port USB, à coté de Windows 10.
L'installation semble se faire sans problème, mais ensuite, l'ordinateur refuse de booter. J'ai utilisé mon disque de boot repair pour essayer d’arranger cela. Il a eu l'air de voir mes 2 systèmes, m'a fait confirmer que j'avais un disque amovible. Ensuite, j'ai pu booter sur Windows, mais pas sur Ubuntu, même lorsque j'ai demandé à ma machine de booter sur le disque amovible.
Ce que je voudrais, c'est avoir le choix entre les 2 systèmes, et de pouvoir booter sur Windows lorsque le disque amovible est absent. Est ce possible ? comment ?

Bonjour,
Au point où tu en es, tu n'es sans doute plus très loin de la solution...
Je te conseille de faire un "boot-info" et de poster le lien pour que les spécialistes puissent voir comment ton système est agencé.
Fais cette opération avec le disque amovible branché pour qu'il soit visible aussi.
Plus de 50 ans d'informatique, ça en fait des lignes de commandes en console, mais on n'avait pas le choix...
Excellente raison pour, aujourd'hui qu'on le peut, utiliser au maximum les INTERFACES GRAPHIQUES !
Important : Une fois résolu, pensez à clore votre sujet en ajoutant [Résolu] devant le titre du 1er message, et un bref récapitulatif de la solution à la fin de celui-ci. Merci.

Post#1 tu dis;
J'ai utilisé mon disque de boot repair pour essayer d’arranger cela.
Si tu as utilisé Boot-Repair-Disk.
Il ne marche pas bien avec l'UEFI.
l'iso est obsolète, les paquets boot-repair ne sont plus à jour.
Je te conseille d'utiliser un live DVD ou USB de Ubuntu en 64 bits, de lancer une session live. Installer/utiliser Boot-Repair, et de continuer ce qui t'est demandé. Ne pas faire de réparation recommandée, seulement le boot info., et donner l'URL dans ta réponse.

Stp, veux tu bien aussi donner le nom du PC et son modèle exacte.

Apparemment, il a vu mon disque amovible puisqu'il m'a demandé de confirmer que c'était bien un disque amovible.
Mon ordinateur est un Assus M3910 (j'ai du cependant supprimer la carte graphique). Je fonctionne sous windows 10 famille version 1607

Lascar, est-ce que tu as essayé de modifier dans ton BIOS le disque démarrage de l'ordinateur pour qu'il démarre sur /dev/sdg ?
Je ne suis pas spécialiste, mais j'ai l'impression que si le démarrage se fait sur sdg, le grub sera lancé et il doit permettre de choisir quel système il faut lancer : Ubuntu ou Windows y figurent tous les deux...

Je suis du même avis que erresse.
Mais post#, tu dis;

Pourtant , je ne vois rien dans le boot info qui justifie un echec au démarrage, sur le disque externe, si il est bien choisi dans le Bios.
Qu'est-ce qu'il se passe exactement lorsque tu démarres sur le disque externe? Il y a un message d'erreur?. Çà démarre directement sur Windows?

J'ai lu récemment un message (de malbo ?) signalant certains bios uefi rétifs à ubuntu jusqu'à ce qu'on leur ait signalé explicitement qu'Ubuntu a une certification uefi.
Donc donne le nom complet de ton pc, tel qu'il est écrit en-dessous (si c'est un portable).

Si ce disque n’apparaît pas dans le Boot Menu, tu auras l'explication du problème : ton disque dur externe n'est pas détecté par le Bios au démarrage. Dans ce cas, il y a peut-être un réglage à faire dans ton Bios pour améliorer sa détection des périphériques au démarrage.

Il dispose d'un dispositif d'alimentation électrique, qui fait que l'alimentation électrique du disque ne se fait que lorsque l'on lance un système d'exploitation, et que celui-ci est en fonctionnement. Çà ne pose pas de problème lorsque le disque n'est utilisé que pour du stockage. Il n'en est pas de même lorsque l'on veut démarrer un système installé sur le disque.
Sur certaine cartes mère. Le Bios lorsqu'il fait le tour des périphérique pour démarrer, ne trouve donc pas le hdd usb, puisque celui-ci n'est pas encore alimenté. Çà empêche d'utiliser ce disque pour booter un Os installé dedans.
Solution; dans le Bios dans l'onglet concernant les ports usb. Activer, lorsqu'elle existe l'option "USB Legacy Support".

La doc a dit;
-USB Legacy Support : permet d'activer la prise en charge des périphériques USB comme un clavier ou un lecteur de disquette USB directement par le bios, utile si pour des systèmes d'exploitation comme MS-DOS qui ne reconnaît pas les périphériques USB ou si l'on veut démarrer le PC via un périphérique USB ( disque dur USB ou clé USB )
Laissez donc cette option sur "Enable" si vous avez un clavier USB ou un périphérique bootable USB.
Sur une de mes machines, si cette option n'est pas activée, le disque usb My Book n'est pas vu au démarrage du Bios. Donc pas de possibilité de démarrer les Os qui y sont installés.

J'ai découvert Ubuntu avec la 07.10.... Et alors?!... Depuis je regarde de temps en temps si Windows marche toujours....

Ils avaient inventé le disque dur externe non bootable chez Western Digital et je n'étais pas au courant. Je crois que tu as trouvé le problème...

C'est surtout la combinaison des deux, le Bios où doit être activé l'option "USB Legacy Support". Et le disque en question.
Car sur mes autres machines, çà fonctionne directe sans avoir à activer cette option qui n'existe pas dans leur Bios. l'alimentation électrique des ports usb étant permanente dès le démarrage des machines.
On voit bien comment çà fonctionne en surveillant la diode du hdd usb, au démarrage de la machine..

@Babdu89 : effectivement, on peut voir (ici) qu'il existe un paramètre "USB Legacy Support" dans l'onglet "Integrated Peripherals" du bios de l'Acer Aspire M3910
D'après ce que tu expliques, il conviendrait que ce paramètre "USB Legacy Support" soit sur "Enabled"

Merci à tous. Tout ça est bien compliqué. Je réponds d'abord à quelques questions :
Oui, évidemment, j'ai essayé la touche "suppr" pour entrer dans le bios. Mon disque nomade n'y apparait pas directement (il apparait dans les "hard disque priority") car il est considéré comme disque dur. Il apparait si je demande à le considérer comme "floppy", Mais ça ne change rien, j'obtiens toujours le message :
no such partition
entering rescue mode
grub rescue
J'ai aussi essayé la touche F12 pour choisir mon boot : là, je vois bien mon disque amovible, mais avec toujours le même résultat.
Le paramêtre USB legaly Support est "enabled" par défaut.
Comme je l'ai dit, j'ai un Assus aspire M3910. C'est un ordinateur de bureau.

Non, ce n'est pas dangereux. Par contre, je n'ai pas bon espoir que cette réinstallation va être un succès. En effet, le Boot-Info du post #9 montre que ton installation est parfaite sur le disque amovible. On verra bien...

Il me semble qu'il y a du mélange d'UUID.

En session live Ubuntu.
Installer gksu pour pouvoir ouvrir Nautilus en root
sudo apt-get install gksu

Dans le fichier /etc/fstab de ton Ubuntu du hdd USB. Double clic sur le fichier fstab .
Changer l' UUID en faisant des copier/coller .

En session live toujours, avec Boot-Repair.
La réparation recommandée de Boot-Repair, propose de réinstaller Grub comme il convient je pense.
Là l'UUID de la partition /dev/sdg5 sera prise en compte comme il faut.
Je ne sais pas pourquoi l'UUID de la partition système de /dev/sdg5 à changé.
Peut-être une manip hasardeuse avec Gparted pour changer l'UUID ?.
Je ne pense pas à une copie de système à partir d'un autre disque, car l'UUID de la partition swap est bon.

De guerre lasse, j'ai reformaté mon disque en mettant une table de partition gpt, et essayé de tout réinstaller depuis le début. ça ne marche toujours pas. Va savoir pourquoi. L'ordinateur, comme l'âme humaine, a ses mystères. De plus, je me suis fait une frayeur car mon windows non plus ne voulait pas s'ouvrir. Heureusement, boot repair m'a sauvé (le disque de réparation de windows s'est avéré impuissant).
Bon, j'abandonne, je continuerai à utiliser Ubuntu en live lorsque j'en aurait besoin. Je fermerai cette discussion dans un ou deux jours.

De guerre lasse, j'ai reformaté mon disque en mettant une table de partition gpt, et essayé de tout réinstaller depuis le début. ça ne marche toujours pas.
Çà ne sert à rien de changer le type de table de partitions (MSDos pour GPT) avec un disque de moins de 2,2 To. Lorsque l'installation du premier système (Windows) n'est pas dans le mode UEFI, ton cas.
Et si tu fais çà, (type de table de partitions en GPT) avant d'installer en mode Bios, il faut créer une partition de 100/200Mo, sans format de fichiers et lui mettre le drapeau "boot-Bios" , pour pouvoir installer correctement Ubuntu.
Nasman explique à plusieurs reprises dans ce forum pourquoi, on doit procéder comme çà.

J'ai fait comme tu m'as dit puis un boot repair avec une nouvelle version de celui ci et j'ai obtenu exactement le même résultat. A part ça, tu m'a expliqué pourquoi ma re-installation n'a pas marché. Il y a quand même des mystères qui s'expliquent.
Par ailleurs, je me suis souvenu que j'avais récupéré un disque dur de 250 GO d'un ancien lecteur graveur de DVD. Je l'ai installé en fixe sur un connecteur sata libre, je l'ai reformaté et j'y ai enfin installé mon Ubuntu et tout marche pour le mieux: Si je laisse faire, j'ai windows et si je fais un F12, je peux booter sur Ubuntu.
Tu me donnes aussi une indication précieuse : mon windows n'est pas en mode UEFI. Cela explique certainement pourquoi j'ai eu des problèmes avec un DD de 4 TO sur lequel je gére ma collection de films. J'avais été obligé de le formater sous Ubuntu (en live), et lorsque j'ai voulu y transférer ma collection (4 TO !), sous windows la moitié a disparue. C'est pourquoi je ne l'ouvre maintenant uniquement sous Ubuntu. Une des raisons pour laquelle j'ai besoin d'ubuntu.

Plus de 50 ans d'informatique, ça en fait des lignes de commandes en console, mais on n'avait pas le choix...
