Tu as bien lu, la sauvegarde est une précaution indispensable au cas ou un truc rate.
Il faut d'ailleurs faire au moins une sauvegarde par semaine, pas besoin d'attendre les grands travaux pour ça - Pour les sauvegardes je recommande d'ailleurs BackInTime.
Maintenant, après tu n'as pas dû tout lire car, oui on peut préserver le /home c'est une des beautés de GNU/Linux qui sépare administration de utilisation. ---> https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/reinstallation_ubuntu
On peut même changer de distribution en préservant ses données !

hmm je déconseille la méthode 1, il faut faire place nette quand on réinstalle un système pour ne pas se retrouver avec une pollution provenant d'anciens fichiers système. On est pile là avec le cas de pierrotm dans l'illustration qu'il ne faut pas, c'est une mauvaise idée.

Ah ben je m'apprêtais à suivre la méthode 1, donc je stoppe...
J'ai sauvegardé mon /home, un peu lourd, sur un disque dur externe. Peut-être que ce qui serait bien consisterait après la mise à jour à le recharger sur une partition séparée à partir de la sauvegarde. Car, si j'en juge par l'avertissement de la doc, déplacer le /home existant sur une partition séparée est une opération délicate et peu recommandée.
Ai-je bien compris ?

Pour faire tout bien, il faudrait effectivement avoir des.config tous neufs, mais....
- on perd tout ses réglages
- aller chercher ses données un peu partout est fastidieux.
Bref...
(la bécane sur laquelle j'écris ce post est passée de Xub devel à Manjaro unstable, puis OpenSUSE et retour Manjaro, avec le même /home depuis 2013...)

Bon ben,
Merci pour tout, tous deux. Je vais mettre à niveau, puis récupérer le /home que j'ai sauvegardé. Je mettrai un message pour dire si ça s'est, cette fois, bien passé (et j'espère ajouter "Résolu").
Et puis j'installerai BackinTime pour faire de la sauvegarde, comme Nam le conseille.
