[Résolu] 4 partitions, 3 principales, 1 logique Faisabilité dual boot
Bonjour la question est simple :
j'ai un PC Toshiba Z30 sous windows 7 avec un BIOS non UEFI.
Le PC portable a 4 partitions, 3 principales et 1 logique
(bien sur comme c'est courant les PC vendus n'ont pas de clean install).
Je voudrais savoir si en récupérant des l'espace disque pour avoir un espace disque non alloué, si
cela suffira pour permettre un dual boot win7 / Ubuntu 16.04 ?
j'ai uploadé un screen shot des partitions sur le disque dur de mon portable (N.B. sur le screenshot disque 1 était une clé USB, ne pas en tenir compte)

Bonjour,
Démarre ton ordi sur un support Live (LiveUSB ou LiveDVD) de Ubuntu 16.04 avec le choix "Essayer Ubuntu sans l'installer" ("Try Ubuntu without installing" si c'est en anglais). Depuis cette session live, fais un Boot-Info en suivant les indications du paragraphe 1.2 Cas où aucun ubuntu installé sur disque n'est opérationnel. Tu donneras l'URL de ce Boot-Info dans ta réponse.

N.B. en paralèlle je suis en train de résoudre pourquoi mon laptop ne boote pas sur DVD externe (mais boot sur cle usb ou disque dur externe), je posterai les infos quand je les aurai.

Je te suggère de ne pas toucher aux partitions primaires suivantes :
/dev/sda1 (label "System")
/dev/sda2 (label "TI31447000A")
/dev/sda4 (label "HDDRECOVERY"
A mon avis, il faut diminuer la taille de la partition /dev/sda5 (label "Donnees") de 30 Go (elle passerait de 120 Go actuellement à 90 Go). Cela se fait depuis Windows 7 comme indiqué dans cette doc : https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/repartitionne … windows_10
Sauf que la doc propose de le faire pour le "disque C:" alors que moi je te recommande de le faire pour ta partition dont le label est "Donnees" (je suppose qu'elle est vue comme disque D: par Windows 7).
Quand ce sera fait et que tu auras libéré 30 Go en fin de la partition étendue, tu pourras installer Ubuntu dans la place libérée en choisissant "Autre chose" à l'étape "Type d'installation" puis en créant dans la zone non-allouée les deux partitions logiques suivantes : une partition racine de 25 Go (format EXT4) et une partition swap de 5 Go. Pas besoin de partition /home parce que tu pourras stocker tes données Ubuntu dans la partition "Donnees" (Ubuntu sait écrire dans une partition NTFS)
EDIT : à la fin de ton post #4, tu demandes comment désinstaller l'application Boot-Info. Il suffit de désinstaller le paquet Boot-Info en passant la commande suivante dans un terminal :
sudo apt-get purge boot-info

J'ai quelques petites questions complémentaires :
question 1 :
Ma première question était de savoir si j'avais déjà atteint le nombre maximum de partitions principale)
qu'on peut avoir sur un disque dur (soit 4) tu semble me dire que non.
et donc je pourrai en faisant de la place dégager un espace non alloué pour une partition primaire
dans laquelle je pourrai installer ubuntu (tu confirmes ?)
question 2 :
Comme tu dis pour ubuntu il faut au moins une partition / et une partition swap,
est-ce que ça ne fait pas 2 qui me feraient dépasser la limite de nombre max.

En continuant la question 1, donc avec l'installation d'Ubuntu en dual boot,
grub sera installé dans le secteur de boot du disque le secteur MBR ?
et cela me permettra au démarrage de choisir le système ?

pourrai-je toujours utiliser la veille prolongée sous windows 7 ?

donc il y aura grub dans le secteur de démarrage de mon laptop,

Une partition étendue est considérée comme une partition primaire. Donc tu as atteint la limite des 4 partitions au maximum.
Dans ce que je propose dans le post #5, il faut comprendre qu'au final il y aurait 3 partitions logiques à l'intérieur de la partition étendue sda3 :

Autre point ma partition Données contient mes données windows
Elle est pour l'instant peu remplie, mais même si ubuntu peut la lire je ne souhaite pas que
ça soit la partition de données de Ubuntu (en revanche je peux la réduire c'est sûr).
Pour les données, comme sur mon disque dur externe et comme j'ai lu sur la doc Ubuntu, Ubuntu pourra utiliser /home qui sera un répertoire de la partition ext4 /
il faudra peut être un peu plus de 30 Go mais je peut en récupérer sur C: aussi j'ai un logiciel windows acronis disk director qui peut faire ça (normalement...)

En fait sous windows et sous ubuntu je fais deux utilisations différentes.
bureautique etc. sous windows, plus technique sous ubuntu (simulation de réseaux, routeurs etc.) mais tu ne pouvais pas le savoir.
En fait aujourd'hui je le fais sur mon disque externe qui est un msata récupéré d'un PC portable dans un boitier externe, mais comme jusqu'ici
mes clés usb bootables sous ubuntu se sont souvent retrouvées écrasées après peu de temps...
Je me disais qu'en faisant un dual boot, ça serait plus stable et je m'en servirai pour archiver les projets que je fais sur le disque dur portable
et pour utiliser Ubuntu directement sur mon laptop sans risquer d'endommager mon disque USB bootable que je pourrais continuer à utiliser
en parallèle par exemple au boulot sur un PC non UEFI, sans avoir à amener mon laptop perso.
Cela dit je ne connais pas bien les partitions etc. mais comment ça peut marcher booter sur une partition non primaire pour tourner un OS ?
je ne comprends pas, ça n'est pas ma spécialité.
Je m'inquiètais des partitions principales car comme je ne connais pas j'ai vu dans les forums des gens dire qu'on ne pouvais pas faire de dual boot
une fois les 4 partitions principales atteintes ?

Une petite question encore , quand on suit la partie "Autre chose" de l'installation, on arrive à la partie création de partitions manuelles avec Gparted dans le processus, mais de mémoire cela ce sait sur un disque physique, il faut selectionner sda, sdb, sdc en fonction du disque physique, comment peut on le faire pour une partition étendue ?
faut-il créer les partitions avant avec la partition swap et la partition / ext4 manuellement avec Gparted avant le processus d'installation en espérant que le logiciel d'installation choisisse les bonnes partitions au moment de l'installation ?

Tu peux faire faire les partitions à l'avance avec Gparted ou bien tu peux faire ça pendant l'installation. C'est comme tu veux.

Je suppose qu'il faut choisir le disque physique disuqe 0 (le SSD) du laptop pour choisir l'emplacement du disque d'amorçage.
Mais si je créée les partitions secondaires swap et ext4 manuellement avant dans la partition étendue sda3, comment le logiciel d'inatallation d'unbuntu va-t-il les trouver ?
faut-il qu'elles aient été formatées (en fait surtout / en ext4) ?

J'ai une question supplémentaire avec des partitions secondaires ubuntu dans la partition étendue sda3, est-ce windows7 continuera à pouvoir accéder à la poartition Données ?
Les partitions contenues dans une partition étendue sont appelée "partitions logiques" (et pas partitions secondaires). Je t'ai donné un lien pour la terminologie concernant les partitions dans le post #5. EDIT : au temps pour moi, le terme "partition secondaire" est valable pour désigner une partition logique. Ma réponse au post #15 : Windows 7 accédera sans difficulté à la partition "Donnees" si tu procèdes comme j'ai pris la peine de te l'expliquer dans le post #5 pour diminuer la taille de cette partition depuis Windows lui-même.

Je poste ce message pour vous remercier, j'ai installé aujourd'hui ubuntu comme indiqué dans le message #5 ci dessus et ça fonctionne très bien
Merci beaucoup je n'aurais pas réussi à l'installer en dual boot dans mon PC qui a 4 partition primaires sans les conseils reçus ici et en particulier
de faire l'installation avec des partitions logiques.
Le dual boot fonctionne très bien

C'est une bonne nouvelle.
Je te prie de passer cette discussion en "résolu" en procédant comme suit :
1) te connecter sur le forum
2) cliquer sur "Modifier" en bas à droite de ton PREMIER post
3) modifier le titre de la discussion pour qu'il devienne :
[Résolu] 4 partitions, 3 principales, 1 logique Faisabilité dual boot win7
EDIT : si tu pouvais donner le nom complet du modèle de ton ordi (par exemple Toshiba Portégé Z30-A-1D6 comme on peut voir ici), ça me permettrait de l'ajouter dans la Liste des portables « Toshiba »

Ce n'est pas parce que Windows est limité (ne sait pas démarrer sur une partition logique) que c'est le cas de tous les OS.
Ce n'est pas parce que Windows ne sait lire que les système de fichiers de chez Microsoft que c'est le cas de tous les OS.
Ce n'est pas parce que Windows ne sait démarrer qu'à partir d'un système installé que c'est le cas de tous les OS.

Bien sûr Il s'agit d'un Toshiba Z30-B-12E, sous windows 7 Professionnel pour la partie Windows, j'ai mis ubuntu 16.04 en dual boot

En relisant toute la discussion, j'ai un doute sur ton partitionnement. Je te prie de démarrer une session sur ton Ubuntu 16.04 installé et depuis cette session, de faire un Boot-Info en suivant les indications de ce paragraphe : 1.1 Cas où au moins un ubuntu installé sur disque est opérationnel. Tu donneras l'URL de ce Boot-Info dans ta réponse.
