[résolu] Mélange de GRUB

Hello

Je vais essayer d'être le plus clair possible mais c'est pas gagné  cool

Cf le post mon post  où je voulais installer une Kubuntu 22.04 en legacy (because le win Pro du PC était installé en LEGACY, tout c'est bien passé, le GRUB propose bien WIN ou Kubuntu les 2 étant bien en Legacy  (sur HP Z240)

Puis j'ai plugé 1 disque de l'ancien PC ou il y a une Kubuntu 20.04 et un Ubuntu Gnome 20.04 aussi.

Après redémarrage, je me retrouve en EFI, car GRUB prend visiblement en compte le GPT EFI qui se trouve sur le disque rajouté, mais il connait aussi le Kubuntu 22.04 sur lequel je peux aussi démmarer (donc grub a rajouté tout seul le 22.04  dans le GPT du disque rajouté.
Et je peut booter dessus (firmware/efi me dit alors   "Installé en mode EFI" (pourtant il a été installé en Legacy).

le seul pb est que GRUB ne trouve plus le WIN. Mais j'ai bien accès à la partition WIN par l'explorateur de fichier.

Si je débranche le disque rajouté (donc je me retrouve dans la conf du début), je démarre bien sur le 22.04.  Le grub a priori en MBR, ne me propose plus WIN, mais est une copie exacte du GPT qui se trouve sur le disque que j'ai rajouté (et qui est déconnecté). et firmware/efi me dit EFI

Je vais alors dans le BIOS et enlève le boot en EFI pour ne garder que LEGACY. Je retrouve mon 22.04 en Legacy mais pas de WIN proposé dans le GRUB.

Alors je pourrais faire un boot repair pour retrouver le win  , mais encore une fois, je demande conseil
Et si boot repair, je le fais avec le disque rajouté ou celui qui est en legacy ?

j'opterais bien, pour sur le boot  disque en legacy,  mais ça va bien se passer tout ça car 2 grub cohabitent  et je veux conserver pour l'instant mes deux 20.04 du disque rajouté.

Bonjour , lorsque tu installes en mode legacy,  depuis quelque temps , l ' installateur ubuntu , met une partition EFI en prevision de ...
il me semble que celle-ci est vide , ce qui fait que boot-info detecte une install en mode legacy , avec d ' autre trucs bien sur .
mais le point crucial c ' est la partition EFI " en attente ".
Du coup lorsque tu as ajouté ton autre disque , cette partition EFI a du etre rempli par une commande ou une simple mise a jour .

sur le disque ajouté du coup , ton ubuntu est donc detecté et a été ajouté a la partition EFI et donc ca a modifié ton systeme .
par contre windows etant  toujours aussi " abruti " et ne tenant tours pas compte des autres , ne s' est pas adapté a ce cas de figure , et donc en demarrage EFI il n' apparait nulle part .

tout ce que je viens de dire est juste une supposition .
Pour une analyse de ton boot-info , il faut attendre les spécialistes de la chose .


Autre point : il est possible , dans certain cas , de switcher windows en mode EFI sans perte de données.  faire une recherche sur : MBR2GPT .
Mais j' ai cru comprendre que sur le disque ou est installé windoz , il y avait aussi ubuntu , ca ne serait donc pas possible .


Autre remarque : dans le BIOS de ta carte mere tu dois avoir un reglage pour selectionner le mode de demarrage de l' ordi : EFI ou LEGACY . il existe sur la plupart des cartes meres , un mode de compatibilité qui autorise ( presque ) l' un  ou l ' autre .

Si tu le peux , il est preferable de " fixer " soit l' un soit l ' autre mode de demarrage .

Ok, je comprends donc pourquoi le GPT du disque ajouté voit tout seul comme un grand mon disque Windows / K-20-04
Alors j'avais vu effectivement la page microsoft pour MBR2GPT . Déjà je ne peut plus  plus booter sur Windaube donc ça règle le problème... et vu ce que tu dis, on risque un peu la cata vu qu'on a Kubuntu dessus.

ba si tu desires demarrer su windows , c est relativement simple :
il faut aller dans ton BIOS : tu selectionnes le mode de demarrage LEGACY , et tu indiques le bon disque dur a demarrer en priorité .

Tous les OS sur les disques durs sont valides et operationnels , ils n' ont pas été modifiés .

Par contre la carte mere , ne sait normalement pas gerer a la fois le mode de demarrage LEGACY et EFI . meme avec le mode compatibilité il ya des ratés et meme des bugs .

C ' est pour cela qu ' il faut choisir un des 2 modes et s ' y tenir de bout en bout . bien qu ' il soit possible de " jongler " mais faut bien connaitre tout de meme , c ' est pas des plus simples .

d' apres ce qu ' il dit qu ' il va faire , il va " virer " la partition EFI afin de reinstaller GRUB dans le disque SDB .
mais il faut aussi que tu fasses les changement qu ' il preconise et que je t' ai expliqué afin de " fixer " ton mode de demarrage en legacy ( enfin si tu desires garder windoz sinon inutile tongue )

Bonjour.
Pour avoir testé chez moi sur plusieurs disques ou clé usb..
Constat;
Les Installations des Os Linux (pas les Windows installés en mode Bios_Legacy) en mode UEFI et Bios_Legacy  dans la même config peuvent démarrer dans les deux modes, à la condition de faire une installation/maj de grub dans les systèmes comme suit;
Tous les disque branchés (UEFI et Bios_Legacy).
Pour toi.
Démarrer l'installation en UEFI du système installé en /dev/sdb2, donc la machine sur le disque /dev/sdb, en mode UEFI.
Faire une mise à jour de grub.

sudo  update-grub

Redémarrer la machine toujours en mode UEFI sur ce disque /dev/sdb.
Tous les Os installés sauf ton Windows devraient démarrer en mode UEFI depuis le grub du système installé en /dev/sdb2.

Pour le mode Bios_Legacy.
On voit dans le boot-info
Je ne sait pourquoi dans le fichier grub.cfg du système installé en Bios_Legacy en /dev/sda3, il n'y a pas de menu- entry pour ton Windows;

Alors toujours tous les disques branchés;

Démarrer la machine en mode Bios_Legacy sur le disque /dev/sda (il contient Windows.), sur le système installé en /dev/Sda3, mettre à jour grub. Normalement ce devrait être suffisant pour que grub retrouve ton Windows, et le mette au menu grub du système installé en /dev/sda3. (dans le fichier grub.cfg)

Remarque;
Il n'est pas impossible qu'avec tes manips, la machine refuse de démarrer sur le système installé en /dev/sda3.
Dans ce cas en mode Bios_Legacy, il faut lancer une session live d'un Linux de ton choix (20.04 ou 22.04).
Installer/utiliser boot-repair pour réinstaller grub dans le système installé en /dev/sda3, en passant par les "Options avancées" de boot-repair.
Tu installes grub première partie dans le secteur de boot (MBR) de /dev/sda, pour la deuxième partie, tu choisis le système installé en /dev/sda3.

Si tout va bien;

Faire démarrer définitivement la machine en mode Bios_Legacy sur le disque /dev/sda, il devrait afficher le menu grub du système installé en /dev/sda3, et faire démarrer tous les systèmes installés en UEFI et Bios_Legacy de la config, Windows compris.

Alors si ce n'est pas le cas, faire et poster un nouveau boot info, que l'on puisse voir ce que contiennent les grub.cfg des Os Linux.

Je ne sait pourquoi dans le fichier grub.cfg du système installé en Bios_Legacy en /dev/sda3, il n'y a pas de menu- entry pour ton Windows;

alors oui, il y avait bien le win quand j'ai installé ubuntu K24 mais avec seul, le disque SDA installé. Puis après branchement des 2 autres disque, il disparaît.

Alors qu'il y a une dans le système installé en /dev/sdc6;

Alors le SDC6, est non bootable, c'était un vieux linux qui tournait par le passé, que j'aurais du d'ailleurs reformater. Oui c'est étonnant de voir que le grub SDC6 contient le windows. Et ça à mon avis ça c'est fait tout seul en rebranchant mes disques.

Par contre, le SDC8 est bootable, c'est un Ubuntu GNOME. Ceci peut expliquer cela .

Bon, je fais la manip que tu proposes.

c  ' est pas forcement evident a comprendre , mais donc : probablement que oui , selon quelle periode tu as installe tes ubuntu et qu ils sont donc capable ou pas de " switcher " . windows ne sait pas gerer ca et ubuntu que recemment .

Mais de toute maniere , ce n' est pas une bonne chose de demarrer l' ordi en EFI alors que tes OS sont prevus pour demarrer en LEGACY, forcement y aura des bugs a l' usage .

De plus , autre precision :
un disque avec une table de partition MSDOS est logiquement prevu pour demarrer un OS en LEGACY avec un ordi et son BIOS reglé en LEGACY.
alors qu ' une disque avec une table de partition GPT est logiquement prevu pour demarrer un OS en mode EFI avec un ordi et son BIOS reglé en EFI .

Il est possible de tout mixer , mais des qu ' on sort des préconisations ci-dessus , pour un novice comme moi , ca devient vite difficile de s ' y retrouver .

Remarque supplementaire : toutes les cartes graphiques ne supportent pas un demarrage en mode EFI . les plus anciennes que 650 ( comprise ) pour nvidia par exemple empêche l' ordi de demarrer en EFI .

Tu vas te retrouvé comme tu l'indiques post#1. et comme je l'indique en début de post.
Tes Linux vont démarrer mais pas ton Windows. Il ne sera même pas au menu grub du système installé en /dev/sdb2
puisqu'il n'y a pas de menu-entry dans le fichier grub.cfg;

L'explication que j'ai déduite de mes tests de démarrage d'installations en mode UEFI et Bios_Legacy de mes Linux sur différents disques. La machine démarrée aussi bien en UEFI qu'en Bios_Legacy.
En UEFI on installe un grub-efi, et Bios-Legacy un grub-pc. On peut même en démarrant dans les deux modes, installer un grub-efi et grub-pc. La maj des grub des Linux le montre comme chez toi, on voit dans ton boot-info;

C'est que si on fait les maj des grub des systèmes installés, et que les autres installations dans l'autre mode sont portées dans le menu grub, tous les systèmes démarrent dans les deux modes. Sauf pour les Windows installé en Bios_Legacy, il faut absolument démarrer depuis un Linux en bios_Legacy dont le grub est à jour et permet de lancer Windows.
J'en ai déduit que le mode de démarrage importe pour lancer le démarrage des systèmes jusque l'affichage du menu grub-efi. et après ça démarre tous les systèmes installés dans les deux modes.

J'ai même tester ceci;
On sait que les installations des Os Linux en 32 bits normalement ne s'installent et ne démarrent pas en mode UEFI.
Le mode UEFI concerne les iso en 64 bits.
Dans mes test d'une config il y avait un Système en 32 bits. À la maj de grub, il est porté dans le menu grub d'un système installé en mode UEFI. Je lance le système en UEFI. Affichage du menu grub, le système 32 bits est proposé au menu grub-efi et démarre.

Par curiosité, j'ai poussé les tests plus avant.
On peut lancer depuis un menu grub d'installation en mode UEFI, des sessions live d'iso Linux contenues dans les disque de la config. J'ai donc testé ce lancement d 'iso 32 et 64 bits stockées dans la config, ça démarre depuis un menu grub-efi.

Comme j'ai plusieurs machines dont une qui ne marche qu'en mode Bios_Legacy 64 bits.  Avec deux clés USB.
En session live sur une clé USB. lancée en mode UEFI.
Sur la clé d'installation de tests
Table de partition de type GPT.
Une petite partition sans format, avec drapeau "bios-grub" ou "bios boot"; pour y recevoir le "core.img".
Une partition efi  FAT 32 avec drapeau boot-esp (boot-efi)
Une partition Ext4 pour recevoir l'installation.
Installation du Linux en mode UEFI.
Redémarrage en mode UEFI, çà fonctionne.

Lancement d'une session live usb en mode Bios_Legacy.
Installation/utilisation de boot-repair pour installer un grub-pc dans l'Os installé dans la clé de tests en UEFI.
La clé démarre sur les deux machines UEFI et Bios_Legacy.
