Installation sur mini-disque SSD d'un Acer Aspire
Bonjour,
Sur un laptop Acer Aspire (BIOS à l'ancienne, pas UEFI) j'ai installé, sur le disque dur /dev/sda, Ubuntu (17.04) à côté de Windows 10, tout marche sans encombre.
Cet appareil comporte un disque SSD de 20 Go, /dev/sdb, que j'ai envie d'utiliser avec Ubuntu. J'y installe Ubuntu 16.04, racine dans /dev/sdb1, la procédure se déroule sans encombre.
Lorsque survient la question « Sur quel périphérique voulez-vous installer le logiciel de démarrage ? », j'ai d'abord essayé /dev/sdb. Le système sur /dev/sdb1était bien détecté par GRUB, si je le sélectionnais, résultat : "Kernel panic. No working init program." J'ai ensuite essayé /dev/sdb1, là c'était un peu mieux, GRUB faisait quelques pas de plus, puis il me dit qu'il ne trouve pas l'image vmlinuz-4.8.0-31-generic, alors que celle installée est vmlinuz-4.8.0-36-generic.
J'ai essayé :
sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/
sudo grub-install /dev/sdb
sudo grub-mkconfig -o /mnt/boot/grub/grub.cfg
sudo update-grub
Sans succès. Une idée ?

Oups, excuses, erreur, il cherche vmlinuz-4.4.0-31-generic alors qu'est présente vmlinuz-4.8.0-36-generic.

Je te prie de démarrer une session sur ton Ubuntu 17.04 qui est installé sur le disque dur /dev/sda et depuis cette session faire un Boot-Info. Tu donneras l'URL de ce Boot-Info dans ta réponse. Ce Boot-Info permettra peut-être de comprendre ce qui se passe sur ton SSD de 20 Go.
De plus, ce serait utile que tu donnes le nom complet du modèle de ton ordi.

Vous voudrez peut-être re-essayer après avoir créé une partition /boot (EXT4, >200MB, en début de disque). Cela peut être réalisé via des outils tels que gParted. Ce qui me paraît bizarre, c'est le contenu des fichier grub.cfg des deux Os en /sda5 et /sdb1 . ce qui permet le démarrage des deux Os dans la rubrique

Pour l'Os en /dev/sda5 les lignes du boot info 198 à 466, concernant le fichier grub.cfg, sont identiques aux lignes contenues dans l'Os en /dev/sdb1; 635 à 903 .
Çà m’étonne que l'installation de l'Os en /dev/sdb1 ai pu faire çà...
Que c'est il passé lors de l'installation? Ou après l'installation?
On voit aussi dans le fichiers fstab des deux Os que tu utilises la même partition /home séparée.

En fait c'est la totalité du contenu des fichiers grub.cfg des deux Os qui est identique.
Il doit y avoir eu du bricolage dans les grub.cf . Non?

J'ai découvert Ubuntu avec la 07.10.... Et alors?!... Depuis je regarde de temps en temps si Windows marche toujours....

Oui, j'ai essayé de réparer dans la confusion, et au bout d'un certain temps il est très possible que j'aie fait des fausses manœuvres, c'est même sûr.

En tout cas là l'installation sur /dev/sdb1 est toute neuve. Je devrais sans doute réessayer avec une 17.04, parce que GRUB évolue quand même pas mal. Bon, je sais, c'est de la fuite en avant...

Tu devrais lancer ubuntu et choisir le ubuntu installé sur sdb1 au lieu du standard (sda5) en utilisant la sélection du grub.
Dans l'état actuel des réparations, je ne vois pas ce qui empêcherait de booter
Sauf le fait que tu mélanges allègrement de la version 16.04 avec de la version 17.04 a un degré rarement vu.

Pour le /home c'est assez fréquent.
Mais pour le /usr, je n'avais jamais vu un partage entre deux OS.
et ton problème vient certainement de cette cause.
sinon tu réinstalles le grub avec la commande
sudo grub-install -v /dev/sdb
Tu posteras si cela plante et si ce n'est pas le cas tu regénères le grub.
sudo update-grub

Utiliser REFIND au lieu du GRUB https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/refind . Aidez à vous faire dépanner en suivant le guide et en utilisant les outils de diagnostic J'ai perdu ma gomme. Désolé pour les fautes d'orthographes non corrigées.

Bonjour.
D'après le post#1, l'Os installé en /dev/sdb1 ne démarre pas. Et je pense que c'est du au fait que les deux fichiers grub.cfg des deux Os sont identiques. Dans la rubrique ;
### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_linux ###
### END /etc/grub.d/10_linux ###
C'est ce qui permet de lancer les Os.
On y retrouve le contenu du fichier grub.cfg de l'Os installé en /sda5. Donc çà ne peut faire démarrer que l'Os en /sda5 lorsque l'on utilise le menuentry de l'Os installé en /sdb1 pour le faire démarrer.
Comme dans le fstab de chaque Os, la partition système est bien indiquée; bon UUID de partition /
Sans tenir compte des bricolages fait avec /usr. À la limite dans le fstab de l'Os en /sdb1, on peut commenter la ligne comme ce qui est en gras.
# /usr/local was on /dev/sda7 during installation
#UUID=51b05bfc-5648-4286-bf38-8c202a0687e1 /usr/local ext4 defaults 0 2
Je propose de tester la réinstallation de Grub sur l'Os installé en Dev/sdb1, comme ceci.
Depuis une session live Ubuntu.
Installer utiliser Boot-Repair en passant par les options avancées pour réinstaller Grub comme ceci.
Onglet "Options principales", cocher" Réinstaller Grub"
Onglet "Emplacement de Grub"
Dans " Os par défaut au démarrage" choisir; /sdb1
Dans " Placer Grub dans" choisir; /sdb
Faire appliquer et donner l'URL indiquée dans la dernière fenêtre avant de quitter Boot-Repair, et redémarrer la machine sur le disque /sdb. pas sur le disque /sda.
Nous dire sur les deux Os démarrent et fonctionnent.
Si çà marche et que tu veuilles que la machine démarre sur le disque /sda, on t'expliquera comment faire.

J'ai découvert Ubuntu avec la 07.10.... Et alors?!... Depuis je regarde de temps en temps si Windows marche toujours....
