[Résolu] Installation sur Dell e5410 + SSD

Bonjour!
Pour ceux qui avaient suivi mes mésaventures avec un PC HP stream, je reviens cette fois avec un "nouveau" PC pour ma maman
Je lui ai dégoté un dell e5410 (4gb de RAM, 320go HDD, proc i5 m560)
Je vais donc lui installer Linux et surtout, changer le HDD pour un SSD
Avez vous des conseils pour la distrib à choisir? La taille du SSD? Sachant que, ce ne sera pas pour du stockage, juste navigation web + éventuellement libre Office
L'idée étant d'avoir une machine qui tourne bien.
Dans le pire des cas, si besoin de stockage il y a, je pourrais toujours lui prendre un caddy DVD to HDD

Dans l'idée je pensais partir sur du 120go, pas envie de me ruiner non plus pour le peu d'utilisation...

Pour le SSD, ils sont de plus en plus abordables, et le prix au Go chute en fonction de la capacité. Par exemple avec ce modèle pris un peu au pif : https://www.amazon.fr/Kingston-SSD-A400 … r=8-3&th=1
Un 120 Go coûte environ 20€ et un 240 Go coûte environ 30€.
Et avec 240 Go, s'il n'y a pas grand chose à stocker, ça permettra d'avoir de la marge wink

Pour la distribution, tu peux tout installer sur cet ordi. Donc la décision t'appartient. Installe quelque-chose que tu connais bien toi-même et que tu sauras bien expliquer wink
Si tu installe Ubuntu ou une variante, prend impérativement une version 18.04.1 amd64, (pas une 18.04.2 qui aura des mises à jour inutiles au mieux, problématiques au pire. Plus d'infos dans le lien 1 de ma signature.)

Oui j'ai vu que les SSD étaient en baisse, et du coup je vais en profiter pour "investir" (bien grand mot)
Je dois déjà en prendre 2 en 240 (pour un T510 et un Asus de bureau), et si je peux gratter 10euros en prenant un 120 pour celui de ma mère, je vais pas hésiter. J'en fais déjà pas mal je trouve pour le coup ^^
Si tu me confirmes qu'il n'y pas obligatoirement besoin de plus de 120, je vais partir sur ça. Très franchement je ne pense pas qu'elle installera quoi que ce soit. Et si elle doit y mettre des photos, ce sera peanuts. Vraiment.

Pour la distrib, en total débutant j'hésite à partir sur Debian (j'ai l'ISO Debian facile), ou partir sur la 18.04. L'avantage étant que, je suis déjà inscrit sur ce forum, alors en cas de besoin... wink

120 me paraissent suffisant pour de la bureautique oui wink

C'est clair qu'être déjà inscrit ici plaide en la faveur de Ubuntu et variantes wink
Concernant l'ISO Debian, il faudrait s'inscrire sur Debian-Facile en cas de besoin par exemple. Sinon, je fais partie des bénévoles qui prennent la relève du projet de l'ISO DF et les documentations qui vont avec, donc si tu as des remarques elles seront les bienvenues big_smile

Alors, je me suis lancé ce matin pour installer Ubuntu (18.04.1) en dual boot avec windows 8, sur le HDD d'origine
L'installation se déroule nickel, aucune erreur, impeccable.
Mais au redémarrage, j'ai un problème;

Error: no such partition.
Entering rescue mode...

Ne pas se décourager! Linux a eu moins de chance que Windows pour s'implanter, aussi, selon certains matériels, il peut se retrouver en difficulté.

Les fichiers de démarrage de [Ubuntu 18.04 LTS] sont loin du début du disque. Votre BIOS pourrait ne pas les détecter. Vous voudrez peut-être re-essayer après avoir créé une partition /boot (EXT4, >200MB, en début de disque). Cela peut être réalisé via des outils tels que gParted. Puis sélectionnez cette partition via l'option [Partition /boot séparée :] de [Réparateur de démarrage]. (http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/tutoriel/partition_boot)

J'ai essayé d'analyser son boot-info, mais sans succès. Grub rescue indique normalement une impossibilité à grub d'accéder à ses fichiers de config, mais à moins que le disque soit endommagé, il n'y a pas de raison.

Si des aidants spécialisés ne viennent pas aider ici, pense à ouvrir un nouveau sujet pour parler spécifiquement de ce problème!

Par contre, cette "réparation" me laisse perplexe:

Les fichiers de démarrage de [Ubuntu 18.04 LTS] sont loin du début du disque. Votre BIOS pourrait ne pas les détecter. Vous voudrez peut-être re-essayer après avoir créé une partition /boot (EXT4, >200MB, en début de disque). Cela peut être réalisé via des outils tels que gParted. Puis sélectionnez cette partition via l'option [Partition /boot séparée :] de [Réparateur de démarrage]. (http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/tutoriel/partition_boot)

Personnellement, je ne comprend pas pourquoi ça ne marche pas. On peut tenter de booter sur ton Ubuntu installé et ré-installer Grub depuis celui-ci.

Pour cela, essaye de créer une clé USB bootable super grub2 disk. Télécharge l'ISO super grub2 disk ici : https://www.supergrubdisk.org/category/ … sk-stable/
Ensuite, installe-la sur une clé USB comme tu le fais pour Ubuntu puis boote dessus. Tu devrais avoir un menu GRUB qui va détecter tous tes OS installés. Tu devrais donc pouvoir booter sur ton Ubuntu installé, puis ré-installer GRUB à l'aide de ces commandes :

sudo grub-install /dev/sda
sudo update-grub

Tiens-nous au courant wink

EDIT : Un disque dur en fin de vie pourrait en effet être la cause du soucis. Si un expert en données SMART pouvait passer par là... smile

Si tu te sens le courage, essaye de lire et d'appliquer la doc sur smartmontools (qui diagnostique l'état de ton disque), notamment l'étape 2.1, et de poster le rapport. Je ne suis pas expert en analyse SMART, mais ça peut toujours servir que ça soit ici. Dans tout les cas, si la réinstallation de grub ne donne rien, et que tu ne veux pas essayer seul de faire un diagnostique de ton disque, je te conseille de ne rien toucher. Si ton disque est endommagé, la moindre utilisation peut l'user encore plus.

J'ai démarré sur Supergrub, et au choix des OS installés, je n'ai que win8, pas de Ubuntu visible
Donc j'ai booté sur Windows, ça fonctionne... C'est déjà ça de pris, hein...

Je vais voir pour analyser le disque, mais s'il est HS c'est pas la fin du monde; c'est prévu de le changer.

En ce qui me concerne, je suis incapable de te dire ce qui se passe hmm (Ubuntu est visible par ton boot-info, mais pas par super grub2 disk, et le grub installé ne voit pas Ubuntu non plus, ni Windows.)

Yep, Supergrub ne permet qu'un déarrage unique. Ce n'est pas un outil de réparation.
Mieux vaut analyser la santé du disque dur avant de faire quoi que ce soit.

Une fois la bonne santé de celui-ci avérée, tu pourras désinstaller Ubuntu avec os-uninstaller et ça devrait rétablir le démarrage normal de Windows. Mais si le disque dur est amoché, ça pourrait tout casser... ce qui m'est arrivé hier lors d'un dépannage donc je t'avertis tongue

Normal, GRUB est désormais ton chargeur d’amorçage: c'est lui qui est censé orienté vers le système d'exploitation choisi. Mais si lui il ne marche pas, impossible (facilement) de boot un OS. Supergrub joue le rôle du chargeur d'amorçage, puisque lui te propose d'aller vers Windows.

A partir de GRUB rescue, d'un bon tuto et de patience, il est possible de boot sur ton ubuntu avec quelques lignes. Mais si on ne sait pas quoi faire dedans, c'est peine perdu. (A moins que @Caribou22 veuille toujours faire exécuter ses commandes)

Super grub2 disk ne voyant pas Ubuntu, impossible d'exécuter mes commandes. Donc je te laisse la main pour essayer de démarrer Ubuntu en lignes de commande depuis le GRUB installé wink

Si l'on réussit à démarrer Ubuntu, on pourra tenter mes commandes pour ré-installer GRUB.

Donc pour être bien clair, tu me conseilles de repartir sur une session live-usb Ubuntu, et de tenter une analyse avec smartmontools?
Si je tente directement de désinstaller Ubuntu et que le disque est vraiment HS, concrètement je risque quoi à part perdre le disque et ses données (autrement dit...rien)?

Si tu tentes de désinstaller Ubuntu et que le HDD est amoché, tu risques de perdre le démarrage de Windows, et le contenu du disque dur. A toi de voir si ce contenu est important ou non à tes yeux wink (SI c'est une licence Windows OEM pré-installée comme sur la plupart des portables, il me semble qu'elle est irrécupérable une fois l'OS désinstallé.)

Concrètement il n'y a rien sur ce pc, je viens juste de le récupérer. Donc à part le MDP wifi et un windows non activé, il n'y a rien wink

Mais dans l'immédiat je vais voir ce que Watts propose, et si vraiment ça semble ingérable, je tenterais le tout pour le tout.
Au pire, ça me forcera à commander illico un SSD, et à ce moment là on peut espérer que l'installation d'Ubuntu se fera sans peine.

Bon, pour moi rien à signaler au niveau du disque.

Pour boot sur ta session, on va y aller pas à pas. A chaque étape, si jamais tu as un retour d'erreur, ou pas un bon affichage, tu arrêtes et tu écris le message exact d'erreur. Attention le clavier est en qwerty, pense à avoir une image d'un clavier pour te repérer.

Si tu exécutes

ls

dans la console Grub Rescue, tu vas voir différentes choses entre parenthèses. Parmi ces choses, il y aura (hd0,msdos5). Si ce n'est pas le cas, écrit moi tout ce qu'il y a de présent. (Si il n'y a que hd0, peut importe)

Etape 1:

set root=(hd0,msdos6)

Etape 2:

set prefix=(hd0,msdos6)/boot/grub

Etape 3:

insmod normal

Etape 4:

normal

Ces lignes te permettent normalement de revenir à un boot normal, sur le menu GRUB. Si ce n'est pas le cas, décris ce qui se passe.

Mauvais signe, la partition de ton ubuntu n'est pas visible depuis grub rescue. Ce qui ne te permettra pas de continuer. Je l'avoue, je sèche. D'autres aidants?

A moins que tu postes dans la rubrique "installation" pour ce problème spécifique, les aidants seront peut être plus nombreux, qu'en penses tu @Caribou22?

C'est bien ce qu'il me semblait...
Je soupçonne qu'il y a déjà eu une installation linux sur ce HDD, peut-être que le précédent proprio a fait une boulette? Possible ou pas?

Bon quoi qu'il en soit pour le moment, je lâche l'affaire pour le moment. Je vais pas batailler 107ans pour installer Ubuntu sur un HDD qui sera remplacé par un SSD d'ici quelques jours/semaines...
Je dois donner le pc ce weekend, et j'ai une grosse journée qui m'attend; on verra quand j'aurais davantage de temps.
Je reviendrais piocher des conseils quand j'aurais le SSD smile Ce sera peut-être plus simple en partant d'un truc vierge et neuf

Bon et bien, j'ai pu désinstaller Ubuntu grâce à Os-uninstaller, sans aucun soucis
Au redémarrage, j'ai pu booter sur Windows sans problème.
Je croise les doigts pour que, après remplacement du HDD par un SSD, tout fonctionnera comme il se doit.

Merci en tout cas pour l'aide apportée!
