[RESOLU] mise à jour du kernel fait planter grub
Bonjour,
Suite au remplacement de ma carte graphique Nvidia par une Intel B580, j'ai dû mettre à jour le noyau linux. Il est maintenant en version 6.14.6.
Suite à cette mise à jour, Grub démarre avec le message
Minimal BASH like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.Il suffit de taper
exit pour passer sur la liste d'amorçage, qui est correcte, et choisir Linux ou Windows pour booter. Mais ça fait une commande à taper à chaque démarrage.
Quelqu'un aurait une explication et une idée pour réparer ça ?

Peux tu en dire plus a ce sujet sur la maniere dont tu as procédé , de grandes chances que ce soit la cause du soucis de GRUB .

c' est pour cela alors .
installer le noyau , ne reconfigure pas le GRUB pour qu ' il demarre sur le noyau en provenance de mainline .
De plus , il manque probablement les headers et les outils complementaires pour que cela fonctionne normalement .
les noyaux mainlines , en l ' etat , sont destinés au test . il ne sont pas intégrés à la distribution , et il n' est pas possible des les utiliser comme ceux qui sont intégrés a ubuntu .( a moins d' etre un gourou linux et de se farcir tout le bouleau à la main ) .
je ne comprends pas pourquoi , il serait necessaire de passer sur un noyau 6.14 .
A mon avis , il vaut mieux simplement desinstaller le noyau que tu as installé , puis mainline .
Les cartes intels , généralement , fonctionne plutôt bien avec le pilote i915 . ta carte n ' utilise pas le pilote i915 .
La logique voudrait que :
tu desinstalles le(s) pilotes nvidia.
tu desinstalles le noyau 6.14.xx ( si il reste au moins un noyau en etat de fonctionné integré a ubuntu )
tu desinstalles mainline .
tu verifies que la carte intel est bien active et que le pilote correspondant est bien utilisée , en ajoutant le PPA intel et en utilisant le pilote approprié .
tu redemarres l' ordi .
D ' apres cette page , il existe le pilote approprié pour ta carte graphique dans le PPA intel : https://dgpu-docs.intel.com/driver/client/overview.html disponible pour 22.04 / 24.04 / 24.10 au minimum .

Merci pour cette réponse détaillée.
Quelques précisions : la version du kernel était 6.08 quand j'ai installé la carte intel. Cela a généré des problèmes d'affichages (remanences en particulier), et la carte n'était pas reconnue.
J'ai désinstallé les pilotes nvidia, installé les pilotes intel, rien n'y faisait.
Et puis en revérifiant sur le site d'Intel, il était précisé que l'Arc B580 nécessitait une version du kernel >6.11. D'où la mise à jour. Et depuis, plus de problème d'affichage, et la carte est reconnue. Juste le problème de Grub...

il me semble aussi avoir aperçu dans les lectures que le noyau devait être >= 6.12.xxx .
Dans ce cas , tu peux
+ rester en l' état => pas terrible , mais GRUB et ubuntu ne prendront pas en charge la serie de noyau 6.14 .
cela veut dire que si il contient des failles / bugs , tu vas les subir avec les risques potentiels .
+ tu peux créer un menu personnalisé GRUB pour demarrer correctement , mais le noyau restera dans le cas précédent . En attendant de passer en 26.04 .
+ et donc la meilleure solution , a mon avis , temporairement , faire une Mise A Niveau vers 25.04 , puis 25.10 en modifiant le fichier qui permet de passer les MAN en non LTS , puis , passer sur 26.04 lors de sa sortie , puis remodifier le fichier pour revenir sur les LTS .
une fois en 25.10 , virer le noyau en provenance de mainline et virer mainline afin de revenir sur des noyaux gérés par la distribution qui comporteront donc les correctifs nécessaires au fil du temps .

Sur la 25.04, on aura déjà un noyau 6.14 par défaut, alors plus besoin de mainline à ce point.

Je ne sais si ce serait utile, mais il y aurait ce PPA pour des pilotes Intel sur la 25.04 : PPA intel-graphics-testing

Finalement je passe déjà par la MAJ vers 24.10 'Oracular Oriole'. La doc de version indique :
By including the Linux 6.11 kernel, Ubuntu 24.10 marks a shift in Canonical’s kernel selection policy to target the newest available upstream Linux kernel
Et la page Intel indique que la B580 est prise en charge à partir du kernel 6.11, donc ça devrait marcher.
Si ça n'est pas le cas, j'irai sur la 25.04, comme proposé par iznobe.

Et la page Intel indique que la B580 est prise en charge à partir du kernel 6.11, donc ça devrait marcher.
La page indique aussi que, pour cette carte, il faut passer le paramètre force_probe au noyau.

Le message éphémère de geole a disparu...
Toujours est-il que je viens de rajouter le paramètre force_probe dans /etc/default/grub et que ça redémarre toujours en Minimal BASH like line editing.

À noter que le support de la version 24.10 se termine en Juillet prochain, et qu'il n'y pas de support étendu ESM pour les versions intermédiaires ; ne pas trop retarder le passage sur la 25.04.

As-tu moyen de changer de session avec la roue crantée, pour tester avec xorg ?

Nouveau pilote xe , c'est tout frais !!!
Je l'avais essayé passé un temps avec ma carte intel , a fonctionné mais pas très au point pour ma carte intel...
Essaie d'ajouter dans le grub /etc/default/
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash xe.force_probe=e20b i915.force_probe=!e20b""e20b" est l'identifiant de ta carte
pour la mise à jour :
sudo update-grubreboot
sudo dmesg | grep -i xeje ne garantie rien, si aucun effet, commente la ligne # ou la supprimer.

Salut ,
vu dans le boot-info :
... modprobe: FATAL: Module efivars not found in directory /lib/modules/6.11.0-26-generic ...
il te faut demarrer en session live USB , faire un chroot , donner la liste des noyaux , il manque probablement des paquets .
remettre à jour grub ensuite .
Pour le reste pour le moment , cela me semble secondaire .

tu reperes la partition / de ton systeme via la commande
lsblk -fe7, puis :
sudo mount </dev/partition> /mnt &&
sudo mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev &&
sudo mount -t proc /proc /mnt/proc &&
sudo mount --bind /run /mnt/run &&
sudo mount -t sysfs /sys /mnt/sys &&
sudo chroot /mnten remplacant partition par le bon bloc et numero de ta partition racine .
une fois en chroot , pour finaliser les montages , si tu es en EFI :
mount -t efivarfs none /sys/firmware/efi/efivarspuis montre :

Pour le moment , si j' ai bien suivi , c ' est le demarrage de la machine via le GRUB qui peche , pas le pilote .
