[Résolu] KDE et xcompmgr
Salut à tou-te-s
Je suis ubuntiste depuis peu, après être passé par une période Debian. J'aime beaucoup cette distro, les scripts sont clean et l'ergonomie excellente. J'utilise KDE pour sa puissance et sa flexibilité. Justement, j'aimerais beaucoup avoir cet effet d'ombres portées sous les fenêtres. Malheureusement, après avoir installé Composite et reconfiguré mon xorg.conf à l'aide du tuto sur le site, impossible de me logguer. Le logo Nvidia s'affiche,puis plus rien, je reviens en mode texte ! Est-ce que quelqu'un a le même problème ?
Petite précision : lorsque j'active uniquement l'option "RENDER", tout démarre normalement, mais c'est dès que j'active "composite" que le système s'emballe.

T'as installé quels drivers pour ta carte graphique ? nVidia ou ATI ?
Si c'est une nvidia pour moi les ombres et la transparence marchent très bien avec les drivers dispo sur kynaptic dans les packages officiels.
Moi il m'a fallu optimiser les drivers nvidia grâce à ce tuto http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/materiel/optimisation_nvidia
Et mettre true au lieu de enable sur cette ligne dans xorg.conf
Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "true"
Si ça marche pas poste ton xorg.conf

J'ai eu le même problème, en ayant suivi le tuto.
J'avais trouvé la soluce sur le forum ubuntu anglais, la voici : il faut rajouter 2 lignes dans le xorg.conf, pour que ta section extensions ressemble à ça :
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enable"
Option "RENDER" "Enabled"
Option "DAMAGE" "Enabled"
EndSection
Pour le reste, tout est dans le wiki.
A noter que sur ma Geforce FX 5600, les ombres me faisaient un peu ramer et j'avais parfois des bugs graphiques. Par contre la transparence, ça marche nickel et ça fait super joli

Merci ! je n'étais effectivement pas passé par la case optimisation, c'est peut-être pour ça ! Bon, c'est pas encore au point : c'est lent, yakuake se lance bizarrement et mes jeux windows plantent quand les ombres sont activées, mais qu'est-ce que c'est beau ! Vivement une version aboutie !
Est-ce que tu peux m'expliquer à quoi sert l'option "damage" ?

L'extension Damage permet (à priori, j'ai lu ça sur un site) de réduire les trainées lors du mouvement des fenêtres. Pour voir si elle est active, tu fais :
