C'est sympa, toutes ces distro avec Openbox mais c'est tellement plus agréable de monter Openbox soi même à partir d'un netinstall Ubuntu ou debian et c'est tellement simple en plus.
Ca permet d’approfondir ses connaissances sur Linux. Y a plein de sites qui proposent des tuto.
Entre autres Crunchbang ou Archlinux et bien sur sur notre forum et la doc.

Tout-à-fait. Et on peut même se faire une petite partition d'une dizaine de Go juste pour ça...

Moi je le fais sur de vieux ordi avec Openbox ou bien JWM ou encore TWM et même quelquefois avec juste une page Web comme dans un Cybercafé.

Bonjour,
Je viens vous en faire la présentation pour vous proposer de l'essayer et d'apporter vos retours d'expérience. Je sais qu'il existe d'autres distributions, j'en ai essayé… plein. De Mandrake 10 à Sabayon en passant par Debian testing et Zenwalk, Tomsrbt, Toutoulinux… Archlinux, (depuis 2006) Ubuntu (toutes les versions de puis Warty)…
Donc voilà, ça peut vous paraître rude, mais ce fil n'est pas dédié à parler de vos expériences avec jwm et twm et Debian. Ces expériences je les ai faites aussi bien que vous, je n'ai pas besoin de construire des Bento Openbox pour ça. Je souhaite intéresser des gens à participer aux tests, éventuellement à contribuer si vous faites partie de ceux sachant un peu configurer et voulant peut-être un peu apprendre sur le système d'exploitation ou autres sujets connexes, et partager vos connaissances déjà acquises.
Bento Openbox est construite d'une part pour ceux qui ne veulent pas "faire de l'informatique", mais l'utiliser, (en particulier pour ceux qui aident les non connaisseurs à débuter) et d'autre part pour ceux qui savent et en font, mais sont soit pressés, soit l'utilisent pour autre chose que pour apprendre à tout monter par eux-même. Je vous propose la présentation de Olivier, qui a écrit un retour d'expérience.
Madbox : j'ai essayé. C'est encore plus léger, cela utilise Grub, et quand j'ai essayé (la version Precise, je n'ai pas essayé à nouveau depuis), il y avait en français fr ou en français belge. Différence : Bento Openbox est plus proche des versions officielles, avec le choix des langues au démarrage, par exemple. Par contre elle n'est pas encore prête pour une installation sur les machines avec UEFI, contrairement aux officielles (c'est dans la todo).
Quelques détails : vous avez par défaut un panel lxpanel : vous pouvez changer pour le panel tint2, ou pas de panel du tout, avec un dock. Tint2 est installé, et fourni avec une configuration par défaut. Le fond est géré par PCManFM, le gestionnaire de fichiers. Il peut être géré par feh, cela nécessite juste un commentaire à changer de place dans le fichier autostart dans ~/.config/openbox/ (ce sont des liens symboliques, et c'est géré par un script : dans le menu Openbox vous choisissez la langue du menu pour commencer, et le script change les liens symboliques). Quand à feh, il est prévu pour deux options au choix, un fond fixe, ou un fond aléatoire toutes les sessions. En cherchant un peu dans le man ou sur la toile, vous pouvez trouver comment le changer aléatoirement toutes les tant de minutes etc. Il y a de quoi s'amuser. Il existe aussi d'autres programmes pour des effets… Comme xcompmgr est dépassé, compton est installé, et attend que quelqu'un se penche sur la config et propose quelque chose. Et aussi comme Skippy-XD, et d'autres ! (Je n'ai pas le temps de les essayer tous !). Vous avez le droit de préférer un fond root, ou Nitrogen, et de supprimer les configs par défaut pour le fond…
Petit aparté pour répondre à zephirin:

Les apparences sont trompeuses. Tu peux supprimer Lxpanel, il n'est là que pour rassurer les utilisateurs habitués de Windows. Mais il est totalement inutile, le menu clic-droit Openbox étant déjà largement pourvu.
Suite de ce que je voulais dire : si vous êtes pressés, (et pas si vous avez beaucoup de temps pour tout configurer aux petits oignons depuis rien), vous pouvez modifier petit à petit : et vous en servir déjà tel quel.
Il suffit d'aller voir dans le dossier de configuration de Openbox (dans le /home/user/.config), et de modifier des fichiers. Ou bien d'utiliser les outils graphiques fournis. Enfin, Bento Openbox est facilement modifiable et remixable, vous pouvez aussi faire des suggestions… et dans les projets, il y a celui de conserver "Sushi" dans cette optique, et peut-être même d'ôter tout ce qui n'est pas strictement dans la recette Bento Openbox minimaliste (donc peut-être même ôter la plupart des outils en mode texte).

Si je peux rester sur une distri Ubuntu ou dérivée je suis partant mais seulement quand le pc l'accepte et si ça ne pose pas de problème (je parle sur des ordi pas trop vieux, ce qui n'est pas toujours possible pour des très vielles machines).
Sinon je trouve l'environnement graphique, esthétiquement parlant, beaucoup plus joli et moderne que d'autres bureaux Lx. Donc c'est un très bon point, très important puisque c'est les premières impressions qui sont déterminantes quand on découvre un nouveau environnement.
Je garde le live et c'est pas impossible que je l'installe sur de prochains ordinateurs à sauver !
Je rêve peut-être, mais l'idéal serait d'arriver aux résultats de conso ressources d'une Débian Lxde. (Je suis à 56mo)
Par quel miracle, quelle est donc la formule qui permet à Débian de construire des distri moins gourmandes ?

Question super-légèreté : hier j'ai installé et commencé à tester antiX core MX15 en machine virtuelle (iso de 222 Mo), puis installé tous les paquets nécessaires pour avoir X, puis fait en sorte d'avoir sshfs etc. pour récupérer les fichiers de Bento Openbox depuis l'hôte. Maintenant j'ai une antiX Bento. (Peut-être un projet à développer plus tard ? Actuellement nous sommes au stade de se proposer de faire des paquets pour tous ces fichiers de config, avec un gars qui fait pareil sous une dérivée de Fedora avec Openbox, et l'objectif c'est de faire en sorte que Bento Openbox puisse fournir une structure cohérente avec des paquets, et une session bento-openbox, réemployable sur toute distribution GNU)
Problème, il y a des tas de petits trucs qui ne fonctionnent pas bien dans antiX, et comme cette version s'appuie en partie sur Jessie je pourrais penser que le problème est upstream. Seulement si c'est le cas, je ne pourrais le savoir qu'en installant, testant, et travaillant sur des rapports de bugs relativement à Jessie. Et ça c'est pas possible, à cause de la durée d'une journée type. (déjà trop de choses prévues dans l'agenda. )
Pourquoi Ubuntu est plus gourmande que Debian ? Cela peut provenir de plusieurs raisons, et probablement c'est ça. Les services qui tournent sont plus nombreux (j'ai fait des tests sur un vieux portable à la maison, supprimé certains paquets, et de là tiré une liste de programmes à supprimer pour faire une "Bento Sushi" plus légère sur les ressources), le noyau est peut-être plus gros, (Il serait peut-être possible d'essayer d'implémenter l'un des noyaux de chez antiX ? Je n'ai jamais essayé, mais ça pourrait permettre d'avoir du "non pae - non cmov" pour les machines vraiment vieilles vieilles).
Quelle est ta limite de vétusté ? Est-ce par rapport au CPU ? À la RAM ? Au FSB ?

Je suis d'accord. D'ailleurs j'ai demandé à quelqu'un qui sait bien faire ça, sur IRC hier, mais il n'a pas le temps, il est dans un job et il débute une formation sous peu. Saurais-tu faire cela ?
Il manque aussi une documentation avec captures pour les premiers pas après installation, des infos sur le wiki linuxvillage, et il manque un centre de contrôle. Il y a une mailing liste bento-dev, démarrée dernièrement, si tu es intéressé de participer fais-moi signe ?

Chez debian il y en a 2 : un generic avec tout ce qu'on peut mettre dedans et un réduit qui ne contient que les choses les plus courantes et qui est suffisant pour des configs pas trop exotiques (on peut toujours mettre l'autre s'il faut).

Deux petites remarques, tu compares un noyau 64bits d'une distro avec le noyau i386 d'une autre distro : par quoi ? Par la taille ? Cela n'est pas significatif. Pour comparer ce qu'un noyau peut impliquer en terme de ressources, je pense qu'il vaudrait mieux voir quels sont les modules chargés et leur nombre, ceux qui sont en "m" et peuvent donc être désactivés, blacklistés, et ceux qui sont compilés en dur et ne peuvent pas être déchargés.
Par ailleurs, sous antiX ils ont des noyaux intéressants pour les vieux ordis car ils viennent à la fois avec du i486 : donc compatible avec les machines dont le CPU n'a pas l'instruction cmov, et compatibles avec les machines sans l'option PAE.
De là l'idée d'essayer d'en installer sur un système équipé avec Bento Openbox. (J'ai un T30 où j'ai mis la Trusty récemment, j'essaierai à l'occasion pour voir si c'est faisable : il faut trois archives deb en tout).

Je pars d'une hypothèse sans doute simpliste : si le noyau est 2 fois plus gros, c'est qu'il y a beaucoup plus de choses compilées en dur... et probablement (mais je n'en sais rien, en fait) beaucoup plus de choses chargées au démarrage...
A vrai dire, j'ai surtout l'impression que la préoccupation de base de debian c'est de sortir un système d'exploitation (serveur graphique et pilotes compris) de haute qualité et que le reste, environnement etc., n'est pas fondamentalement leur priorité. Et ils doivent y arriver plutôt bien, à en juger par le nombre effarant de distributions qui s’appuient dessus (y compris ubuntu)... Je pense que c'est une des raisons majeures du fait que les debian sont plus légères que leurs équivalents...

Les 3 plus anciennes distributions sont utilisées comme base pour des dérivées. Debian est une de ces distributions les plus anciennes encore disponibles ; Elles sont les plus nombreuses dans les serveurs dans le monde ; son système de gestion des dépendances lui a permis de se faire une place de choix.
Ses objectifs sans ordre de préférence :
* avoir un système de paquet / création de paquets très abouti et très strict au niveau des méthodes (long, difficile, et complexe de créer un paquet Debian officiel et le faire entrer dans les dépôts, c'est encadré par des développeurs Debian homologués, il faut trouver un mentor, etc.)
* servir Debian sur le plus grand nombre de plate-formes possible : intel, amd, sparc, arm etc.
* servir Debian sous la forme la plus Libre possible, de là les noms différents pour le navigateur web etc. (Il y a des exceptions pour des firmware non libres, de ce que j'ai compris, cf sur gnu.org les distributions considérées libres).
note que je ne lance pas de débat. Donc, je fais avec Ubuntu, parce que c'est une base facile à mettre entre les mains des utilisateurs non techniciens. Et les paquets des principaux programmes nécessaires pour Bento Openbox ont été packagés pour Debian, dans les deux dernières années. (C'est long, mais quand on aime, on ne compte pas ! ;-) )

Hélas je ne sais pas faire encore ça. J'ai tenté d'installer virtualbox mais déjà des bugs !

dans la liste de compléments à une session Openbox que tu cites sur le blog Lubuntu, je vois le désormais fameux AeroSnap au clavier. Pourquoi ne pas implémenter un AeroSnap (aussi) à la souris, c'est tellement plus naturel pour la plupart des utilisateurs ?

J'ai bien lu la doc pour installer VB.
Quand ça ouvre bento ça plante au moment où je veux chosiri la langue.

J'ai installé "Simple Screen Recorder" il y a quelques jours mais je ne l'ai pas encore essayé. Qu'as-tu utilisé ? Si tu fais une autre vidéo, pourrais-tu lancer htop (depuis les menus système) et montrer les sections système et préférences ?

Pas trop le temps de faire une autre actuellement préparatifs vacances départ demain.
J'ai essayé, et le résultat est pas ok, avec toute l'image décalée sur un côté. Avec recordmydesktop ça m'avait fait pareil. Je soupçonne mon écran d'être fautif, mais je ne sais pas réellement de quoi ça vient. En attendant, merci et bonnes vacances !
