Le debug que vous m'avez fourni m'amène à penser que le test précédent va échouer, pouvez vous confirmer puis faire les test qui suit :

Débrancher l'appareil de courrant sans l'arrêter, histoire de vider sa mémoire.
Attendre 5 secondes et le rebrancher

et refaire le test :

scanimage -d 'canon_pixma:34-9F-7B-28-E6-49' > test.pnm

Si vous me confirmé que ce test fonctionne, je pourrais corriger le backend ESCL !

Juste  pour l'histoire, je suis le responsable des deux pilotes que vous utilisé. Je fais de la rétro-ingénierie et parfois je fais des correctifs qui créés de nouveaux problèmes (c'est le cas pour le backend escl voir ci-dessous).

Parfait. Merci beaucoup pour vos explications et la rapidité de votre réponse.

J'utiliserai scangearmp2 en attendant. Xsane avec 'canon_pixma:34-9F-7B-28-E6-49' arrive bien a récupérer l’aperçu, mais quand je veux scanner en 600 dpi j'ai l'erreur : "Error my backend :    error during device I/O"...
En fait pas toujours ?! En réessayant une troisième fois pour copier le message d'erreur le scan est passé (en 600 dpi)...

Pour l'instant je n'ai pas vu passer la mise à jour. J'ai les dépôts suivants pour sane :

Atteint :4 http://ppa.launchpad.net/sane-project/sane-git/ubuntu bionic InRelease
Atteint :8 http://ppa.launchpad.net/thierry-f/fork-michael-gruz/ubuntu bionic InRelease

Ou alors, si elle est passée sans que je m'en aperçoive, ça ne fonctionne pas (pour l'instant) avec le pilote "escl".

Oui, et pas aujourd'hui non plus... À la fin août je ne pourrai plus faire le test car je n'aurai plus accès à cette imprimante... Mais bon, d'ici là la mise à jour sera sûrement passée smile

Pour que vous puissiez me faire un retour, je l'ai packager sur mon dépot :

# Ajout du dépot
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:thierry-f/printers-and-scanners
# Mise a jour des liste de paquet
sudo apt update
# mise a jour du système
sudo apt dist-upgrade
# suppression du dépot
sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:thierry-f/printers-and-scanners
# Mise a jour des liste de paquet
sudo apt update

On retire le depot pour que vous puissiez bénéficier des futur maj !

En ajoutant ton dépôt, ubuntu me propose de mettre à jour les 23 paquets suivants :

cups/bionic 2.3.3-ordissimo amd64 [pouvant être mis à jour depuis : 2.2.7-1ubuntu2.9]
cups-bsd/bionic 2.3.3-ordissimo amd64 [pouvant être mis à jour depuis : 2.2.7-1ubuntu2.9]

C'est normal ?
J'ai un peu peur qu'en supprimant ensuite ton dépôt, je coupe certains paquets ? Quel est le ou les paquets à mettre à jour qui concerne le scanner ?

Voila ce que vous aves bezoin, le reste oublié, sauf si vous avez de problème d'impression :

sudo apt install libsane1 libsane-common sane-utils libsane

Comment reporter un problème d'imprimante ou de scanner?
