Installation Xubuntu 22.04 sur Acer Travelmate 7750G (2011-2012)
Bonjour la communauté,
Mon PC portable Clevo P950ER m'ayant soudainement lâché (enfin, je m'y attendais vu le nombre de problèmes qu'il a connu et le nombre effrayant de matériel que j'ai dû changer depuis 6 ans), je me suis rabattu sur un vieil Acer Travelmate 7750G de 2011 -2012 (similaire ou presque à l'Acer Aspire 7750G), en dépannage d'urgence & en attendant mon nouveau PC portable en construction actuellement.

Pour pouvoir booter Xubuntu 22.04, & éviter d'avoir un écran noir juste avant l'invite de connexion de session utilisateur, j'ai dû
1 - blacklister le pilote/module amdgpu dans:
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

2 - modifier les options de démarrage de Grub en ajoutant ceci:

Et bref, ça marche!

tout fonctionne parfaitement pour l'instant, mais ça fait juste 15 jours que je l'utilise.
C'est un peut lent, le CPU 2 cœurs/4 threads sature un peu vite, la CG chauffe un peu aussi, mais je pousse pas non plus le système.

L'installation je l'ai faite avec l'installeur par défaut (Ubiquity): en mode BIOS/MBR, car si je formate en GPT, ça passe pas très bien, il me semble.

J'ai viré le kernel 6.5.0-28, qui m'a semblé posé des problèmes (pas sûr, mais je voulais aller vite, et éviter les contre indications).

Aussi, j'ai d'abord testé la 24.04, ça fonctionne, mais y a des trucs qui sont pas encore finalisés dessus (LVM?? LUKS?? j'ai eu des problèmes avec ça, sans approfondir plus), je suis repassé en 22.04, et aucun soucis. La 24.04 m'a l'air prometteuse, mais pour l'instant, elle est encore trop jeune & pas arrivée à maturité; et de toute façon la 22.04 est une LTS, donc il vaut mieux attendre encore un peu avant de basculer, AMHA.
Pour tout dire, j'ai fait ce topic dans le but de documenter un peu la liste des portables Acer supportant (X)Ubuntu:

pour l'Acer Aspire 7750G (quasi identique), on trouve qu'il supporte Ubuntu 16.04

Voilà, je crois que j'ai fini maintenant.
Merci à (X)Ubuntu de nous faire un système qui fonctionne encore, et correctement, même sur des machines de 12/13 ans d'âge (essayez d'imaginer de faire tourner un Windows ou un MacOS pondus en 2022-2024 sur une bécane aussi âgée, hein!).
