Non, ça ne marche pas. En particulier :

Non, c'est bon.

Je me suis penché sur le problème de ta carte et il se trouve que si on arrive pas à la faire fonctionner avec ndiswrapper, il n'y a rien d'autre à essayer (pour le moment). Le problème est que le driver de ta carte n'a pas encore été mis sur ubuntu donc on peut rien faire.

Je souhaite juste voir une dernière chose (que je regarderai ce soir car là je dois aller faire une course), ça va te remettre au point de départ.

Tapes les commandes suivantes:

sudo -s
ndiswrapper -r net8192se
modprobe -r ndiswrapper
mv /home/helene/install_wifi/91_92_SE_Driver/Win2K/net8192se.sys /home/helene/install_wifi/91_92_SE_Driver/Win2K/rtl8192se.sys
ndiswrapper -i /home/helene/install_wifi/91_92_SE_Driver/Win2K/net8192se.inf
ndiswrapper -m
mv /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper.conf
modprobe ndiswrapper
ndiswrapper -l
exit

A ce point, tu dois être revenu au point de départ. Maintenant tapes les commandes suivantes et envoies moi les résultats:

ifconfig
iwconfig
dmesg

Je reviens ce soir vers 21h, donc profites un peu de ton dimanche

Merci beaucoup de m'avoir aidé.

L'informatique n'est pas une science exacte. Pourquoi d'autres utilisateurs du Toshiba U500 on pu faire fonctionner le wifi. Les cartes wifi peuvent-elles varier pour un même modèle ?
Y a-t-il un site où je puisse faire une veille concernant la résolution de ce problème ? Une solution est-elle cherchée par la communauté ?

J'ai une autre solution pour toi et on aurait du commencer par ça. Je suis vraiment c**.

Attention: la commande que je vais te donner va désinstaller Network Manager mais c'est normal
Si un jour tu veux remettre network manager, lances la commande suivante:

sudo apt-get install network-manager network-manager-gnome

Maintenant, lances la commande suivante:

sudo apt-get install wicd

Vas dans "Système=>Préférences=>Applications au démarrage" et décoches "Gestionnaire de réseau" (recoches le si tu réinstalles Network Manager)

Rédémarres ton pc

Si wicd (un équivalent de Network Manager) n'est pas lancé à la place de network manager, lances le en allant dans "Applications=>Internet=>Wicd Network Manager"

Dis moi maintenant si wicd voit ton réseau wifi, il fonctionne d'une manière similaire à Network Manager

Pour tes autres questions, je n'ai pas trop d'idées. Tu peux être qu'il y a forcément une équipe Linux pour trouver une solution au problème du driver de ta carte mais ça peut prendre du temps

Par contre, j'ai également remarqué que ton pc a des problèmes de ventilo. C'est aussi un bug ubuntu connu de ce pc. Mais un problème à la fois, on en rediscutera après le problème de wifi

J'ai désinstallé networkmanager mais wicd ne détecte pas mon réseau wifi. L'interface apparaît normalement mais même après plusieurs réactualisations, il reste aveugle...
Peut-être faut-il que je change les préférences ?

Oui, mes ventilos sont capricieux. Un forum a été lancé sur ce sujet mais pour l'instant, je suis à la phase de décryptage des échanges (entre gens plus calés
que moi).

Quand tu pourras, donnes moi le retour des commandes suivantes:

sudo iwlist wlan0 scan
sudo iwlist wlan0 scanning

Une des deux commandes va te renvoyer une erreur, c'est normal

Note : je suis connectée à un réseau filaire sur mon lieu de travail. Il y a, ici, également un réseau wifi (accès à partir d'une page web avec login et mot de passe). Je pense que je peux tester les "performances" de ma carte wifi même dans cette situation, n'est-ce pas ? Ou mieux vaut ne pas compliquer les choses ?

Il ne me reste plus alors qu'une seule solution à te proposer (après je sèche):
c'est la configuration manuelle du wifi

Tout d'abord, j'ai besoin de connaitre ton FAI (Free? Orange? Darty? etc)

[Edit.]: Peux-tu me faire un autre test en meme temps?

lances la commande suivante:

sudo gedit /etc/default/avahi-daemon

à la fin du fichier, ajoutes les 2 lignes suivantes:

AVAHI_DAEMON_START=0
AVAHI_DAEMON_DETECT_LOCAL=1

Sauvegardes (avec Enregistrer, pas Enregistrer sous...), ne vas pas le sauvegarder ailleurs qu'à l'endroit où il est

Rebootes et regardes si le wifi marche avec Wicd (que je t'ai fait installer la dernière fois)

Si ca marche pas aussi, essayes la commande suivante:

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

Et si ca ne marche toujours pas, renvoies moi en plus de ton FAI, le retour des commandes suivantes:

ifconfig
iwconfig

Ca commence à devenir long tout ça, heureusement que t'as de la patience

ce qu'il faudrait, c'est que tu me donnes le nom (essid) de ta box et à partir de là, je te donnerai (ce soir) la configuration à faire. Il ne devrait plus y a voir grand chose à faire normalement.

PS: Le nom de ta box marqué quelque part sur ta box et elle commence par ALICE-... (fais bien attention à la casse du nom stp)

Mon ESSID est Alice-7f84

Mais en tapant la commande cat /etc/network/interfaces, j'obtiens :

cat /etc/network/interfaces
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback



iface wlan0 inet dhcp
wireless-key ***********************
wireless-essid Alice-7f84

Or, j'avais changé mon mot de passe WEP par un mot de passe WPA (on essaye tout dans mon cas !), l'ordinateur ne semble pas avoir pris en compte ce changement. Le problème vient peut-être de là ?

Du nouveau !
Un ami m'a proposé de faire cette manip :

sudo gedit /etc/network/interfaces

Et remplace iface wlan0 inet dhcp

par:

iface wlan0 inet static
address 192.168.1.3
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1

J'ai alors tapé :

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

Normalement, m'a-t-il dit, je devais être automatiquement connectée au wifi. Ce n'était pas le cas mais MIRACLE, wicd a repéré mon réseau wifi.

J'ai cliqué sur "se connecter" en dessous de l'icone de mon réseau. Sans résultat. Je suis allée voir dans les paramètres où j'ai remarqué des correspondances avec les lignes de code que m'avait donné mon ami :
1) Utiliser des adresses IP statiques ---> j'ai coché
a) juste en dessous : IP = j'ai noté "192.168.1.3"
b) il m'a alors complété automatiquement le netmask (masque de réseau) et le gateway (passerelle)
2) Utiliser un DSN Statique : je n'ai pas coché. On me propose éventuellement d'utiliser les DNS globaux. En cochant cette case, s'affiche le message suivant : Global DNS is not enabled in preferences, so it can't be used for this network
3) Utiliser ces paramètres pour tous les réseaux partageant cet ESSID : je n'ai pas coché
4) Utiliser le chiffrement : j'ai coché. Puis j'ai sélectionné dans le menu déroulant "WEP Hex" et noté ma clé WEP. 

En voulant valider, un message s'affiche : "Invalid address in DNS 1 entry"

Je suis près du but quand même, n'est-ce pas ?

Je ne vois pas quelle erreur ça peut etre mais effectivement, il y a du mieux. Je suis en train de regarder ce qu'il doit te manquer. Patientes un peu encore, tu es près du but.

PS: cette ligne que tu as mises 2 messages avant, c'est ton mot de passe personnel pour ton wifi, il vaudrait mieux que la remplaces par:

wireless-key xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Utilises "Modifier" dans le forum pour corriger ça

Voila, quand tu mets les "Paramètres avancés", tu dois paramétrer de la meme manière qu'à ce lien:

Bien sur, dans "key", tu mets la clé wep de ta box

Et dans le cas d'une clé wpa, tes "Paramètres avancés" doivent ressembler à ceci:
