problèmes affichage xubuntu

Bonjour,

Je suis en train d'installer xubuntu 8.04 sur un omnibook XE2 d'un pote (pentium III 461,00 MHz avec 256Mo de RAM)
le problème c'est la resolution: j'ai l'affichage reduit ( bande noir de 3cm environ autour de l'affichage):
lspci me retourne:

dans applications/parametres/gestion des parametres xfce/affichage,  je n'ai que deux options: 800x600@56 et 640x480@60, je souhaiterais passé en 1024x768, comme vous pouvez le constaté j'ai deja mis le nez dans le xorg.conf mais sans resultat, quelqu'un pourrait il m'aider a le configurer...
